Hi & welcome to things to do in Biarritz!
Biarritz is a city which lies on the Bay of Biscay, on the Atlantic coast, in southwestern France, in the Region Aquitaine. It is a luxurious seaside town and is popular with tourists and surfers. The town lies in Basque territory, and Basque flags and symbols are prevalent throughout Biarritz. Biarritz is located in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department in the Aquitaine region. It is adjacent to Bayonne and Anglet and 11 miles (18 kilometres) from the border with Spain. It is in the traditional province of Labourd in the French Basque Country.
What to do in Biarritz? Surfing is the first thing many thinks about when you say that your going to Biarritz. But there are much more things to do, music, dance, cinema and the plastic arts have a privileged spot in local life of Biarritz. From the International Festival of Audiovisual Programmes (FIPA) in January to the Biarritz Festival of Latin American Cultures and Cinemas, which highlights the long-standing links between the Basque Country and Latin America, Biarritz pays attention to images of the world. Dance has long been at the forefront in Biarritz with the creation of Ballet Biarritz, a national choreographic centre directed by Thierry Malandain, and the annual 'Le Temps D'Aimer' dance event that, by combining classic and contemporary with innovation and tradition, provides an opening to large international companies and young training programmes.
There are a lot of things to do and see here in Biarritz. The city itself has 6 km of beaches and the back country has something to offer too: Basque villages that remain as charming as ever in an authentic countryside. And Spain is just a stone's throw away if you want to go out for tapas in San Sebastian or take a tour of the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao. Biarritz is actually the perfect starting point to explore the Basque Country. Here you’ll be able to truly experience a surprising region through its cuisine, its traditions and its geography…
On this site I will try to give you a proverbial crash course in things to do in Biarritz. I will show you all the different attractions and must do's that are available to you, how to get there and what to do before doing them. You will find money saving tips and suggestions on how to insure that your Biarritz experience goes smoothly.

About me:
Hi, my name is Fredrik Erixon and I'm the mastermind behind this website. I'm the president of a small advertising agency, I work as a project manager and party planner, and I'm also a big lover of traveling, Zurich, Stockholm and Paris are places I like. Cross Country ski, trail running, tennis and outdoor sports are all big parts of my life so, I always try to do that during my trips. Most proud of? Propably the fact that I've managed to been able to "run" and visit so many different sorts of cities and joined so many international competitions, not just in running but in all different sports. Please use the contact form if you have any comments or questions. Cheers! Fredrik. |
